On Friday the 11th of March, we had the pleasure of welcoming back ex-GPS student Kimberley Abbott! Kimberley has already established a reputation as a young leader, entrepreneur, and successful engineer– now at GPS we also know her as an amazing speaker! The Government clearly agrees with us, last year Kimberley was selected to represent Australia to speak at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women!
Kimberley founded and was CEO of Roka, an award-winning social enterprise developed to break the cycle of poverty in rural India through economic empowerment of women and education. Stage 2 and 3 were lucky enough to listen to Kimberley talk us through her amazing slides on this and other inspiring tales. After this we had a lively Q & A session which could have continued for much longer if we'd had time. Stage 3 also raised $132 for the ROKA foundation, which actually allows 33 Indian children to attend school for a year, well done everyone!
